City of Niigata, with the affluent natural surroundings and the traditional industries of agriculture, livestock and fishery, is one of the food supplying bases in Japan which self-sufficient rate of food is, different from other ordinance-designated cities, more than 60%. There are many food processing industries such as rice snacks, boiled fish paste molding products and ferment foods, also with the eminent flower production basis in Japan.

"Food and Flower Forum in Niigata" is the movement that raises the function of Niigata city as the international foothold with the key concepts of "food & flower."

"Niigata Award" project takes the part of this action and wants to contribute to society for the human health and welfare in the world.
